Alex busca refugio en una recóndita isla de Grecia. Tiene trabajo en un pequeño y aislado restaurante regentado por un misterioso norteamericano, Max. Todo parece empezar bien hasta que Alex se siente atraída por Max.
El amor puede traer cosas muy buenas y también conlleva dejar caer la coraza que a veces nos ponemos para que nadie llegue a nosotros. Y cuando eso ocurre, la coraza cae, nuestros secretos salen a la luz.
Y esto es lo que ocurre con Max y Alex. Hasta la llegada de Alex, Max había conseguido mantener una coraza que le protegía de su yo anterior. Alex va a derribar esa coraza y empezaremos a conocer a ese Max del pasado.
El sitio elegido para situar el pequeño restaurante es un personaje más de la película. Un sitio maravilloso para empezar de nuevo que Fernando Trueba aprovecha muy bien en la película. La luz también es preciosa. Una luz que empieza brillante y llena de vida para ir hacia la oscuridad...
Una historia que casi, y como bien dice Trueba, podría considerarse un western.
